Top 10 Sports Earners in 2008

Just watching BBC Inside Sport, and they have a list of top 10 earnings from sports stars in 2008, as listed by Sports Illustrated. I was definitely surprised at the list.
 
I was surprised not to see any baseball players on the list (A-rod?), but clearly endorsement deals are a huge driver in overall earnings.

10. Roger Federer – tennis (£24.3m)
9. Kobe Bryant – NBA, LA Lakers (£24.6)
8. Lionel Messi – football, Barcelona (£24.8)
7. Ronaldinho – football, Milan (£25.9)
6. Floyd mayweather – boxing (£27.8)
5. LeBron James – NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers (£28.0)
4. Kimi Raikkonen – F1, Ferrari (£31.8)
3. David Beckham – football, team unknown (£33.4)
2. Phil Mickelson – golf (£43.2)
1. Tiger Woods – golf (£88.6million in 2008)
 
Of the top 10, five are Americans, three are footballers, two are from golf and the NBA. Its amazing that Tiger makes double the next, and I read recently he has career earnings of over US$ 1billion….amazing.
